Deputy Ranking Member on Parliamentary Select Committee on Health, Dr. Mark Kurt Nawane has asked Ghanaians to be their own guide against the coronavirus pandemic as President Akufo-Addo has failed them.

Member of Parliament for Nabdam Constituency in the Upper East Region says comparing the country to others in terms of strategic measures in fighting the virus, the President being the leader of the country lacks direction and only good at “speaking grammar” at public gatherings.

The MP who thinks the country has fallen behind in terms of observing the safety protocols, noted that President Akufo-Addo and some of his Ministers are the reason majority of Ghanaians do not obey the protocols outlined by health officials.

How can they observe the protocols when the ones who suppose to be leaders by example are rather fallen short, he asked, greatly the president and his ministers have failed us.

“They are busy going to funerals and other crowded gatherings with little adherence to the protocols. How will Ghanaians take them serious?”, he stated.

Speaking on Daybreak Upper East show on A1 Radio, Dr. Nawaane noted that the Health Minister, Kwaku Agyeman Manu per his recent appearance on the floor of Parliament and comments made, indicated that he and President Akufo-Addo are not doing their best to provide and protect the citizenry against the virus.

“What shocked my spin is that President Akufo-Addo is only interested in making public pronouncements on how he is fighting the virus but failed to see that he is either misdirected or do not even know the actuality on the ground”, he added.

Noising the danger ahead with regards to the virus and the “lackadaisical approach” the government is taking, Dr. Nawaane has called on Ghanaians to be their own guide and at all times observe the safety protocols.
