Ranking Member of the Finance Committee in Parliament, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, has asked Ghanaians not to fall foul of the just presented mid-year budget which claimed it will not ask for more money or taxes.

He says the budget failed to address the economic loopholes facing the ordinary and rather resort to continue spending of the mega resources gathered.

He said “We are all here, the finance minister knows exactly what is happening. He is not here to ask for more money comment, will be best answered in six months. Let’s give him up to March, calls will start coming in there that we will know whether he needs more money or not. The budget doesn’t touch on how it can keep the economy stable.”

Dr Ato Forson who made the comment on JoyFM monitored by A1radioonline.com stressed that the budget also failed to explain further how it is going to create that one million jobs as the government continue to borrow and spend more than it accumulates.

The MP for Ajumako-Enyan-Esiam constituency, however, called on Ghanaians to be more guided and not fall populist to shallow budget as the finance minister only use it as a smokescreen to cover the reality of the country’s economy.

Meanwhile, the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta at the Midyear budget review in Parliament noted that the government focused is on creating more jobs for the youth and has set up an enterprise and youth support fund called “YouBanc®” that aims at financing youth-led start-up businesses across the country.

The Minister also noted that the budget doesn’t seek to add more taxes rather update Ghanaians on the economy and how the government under the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is the best manager of the economy.
