A communicator with the National Democratic Congress in the Talensi District, Solomon TTB has warned the governing New Patriotic Party not to add the presidential pardon its leadership has given to the former Member of Parliament for the Chiana-Paga constituency, Abuga Pele as part of its achievements.

According to the communicator, the government under the leadership of President Akufo-Addo is noted for taking undue advantage over things that often suppose to be a social norm as achievements.

He said that successive governments have given Presidential pardons to people especially governance under the NDC hence he (President Akufo-Addo) should not try to “play world cup” with it or add it as an achievement.

Speaking on Daybreak Upper East on A1 Radio, Solomon TTB has asked the President to rather focus on how he can prosecute members of his government who are involved in corrupt activities on daily basis in order to win the public trust.

“This government is full of people who are practising corruption or are lookers of it and what I expect from the President is to rather find ways to clean these messes around him. One will know that it was under the NDC that stood on its grounds against corruption reasoned Pele was later sentenced. It was hard for the party and its leadership but we need that transparency and accountability. So, we expect nothing but for this government to prosecute his people who are involved in corrupt activities.”

The former GYEEDA boss was sentenced to 6 years in jail alongside a businessman, Philip Assibit on February 23, 2018, for involving in a GHc4.1 million GYEEDA scandal.

But Mr Pele was granted a presidential pardon on July 1, 2021, on health grounds after serving 3 years in jail.

The communicator however sent his warm greetings to Mr Pele and wish him the best of luck.
