A Communication team member of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Upper East Region, Abdallah Jonathan Salifu, has said he supports the removal of the President of Guinea, Alpha Conde.

He made this comment on A1 Radio’s Daybreak Upper East programme when answering questions on his take on Sunday’s attempted Coup in Guinea to overthrow President Conde.

Though, Mr. Abdallah disapproved of the approach by the millitary, he supports the removal of the president from office.

He said “I don’t support the way it was done but I support the removal of the man {President Alpha Conde}. I wish it was done constitutionally.”

According to him, “When you are in those countries, it seems you always have your way when it comes to elections. And it is becoming common in Africa. You can cheat the people at the polls. But I tell you there’s a certain group out there which is the security forces; they might not agree with you and will come and take you out of power like what we are seeing in Guinea.”

“I don’t support the way he was taken out but I support his removal. The processes, I don’t agree with; but his removal, I support.”

Sharing some past interactions he had with some Guineans, Mr. Abdallah observed that “Guinea is blessed with resources but they are as poor as a church mouse. And they’re now even saying it is worse. Things are getting worse {because} the president has completely run out of ideas.”

Mr. Abdallah believes that “When you sit in a particular place for a very long time, you run out of ideas. That is the reality and that is why even in public and civil service, they move people around. They say after every five to six years, you need to be moved around.”

“I’m told he {President Alpha Conde} is is 82 years. Why?” He questioned.
