Deputy General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Obiri Boahen, has called out former President John Dramani Mahama to desist from commenting on allegations of corruption under the Akufo-Addo led government because according to him, Mr. Mahama lacks the moral effrontery to do so.
Mr. Mahama during an economic forum organized by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Monday accused the NPP government over what he described as its “wastage of badly needed resources through corruption.”
But speaking on Daybreak Upper East on A1 Radio, Lawyer Obiri said Ghanaians have not forgotten about the numerous allegations of corruption scandals that marked the former president’s regime.
“He {Mr. Mahama} has the effrontery to talk about corrupt officials and to refer to some individuals as corrupt; the man doesn’t fear God such that he has the right to refer to some individuals {in the NPP administration} as corrupt.”
“We are not young boys; we have been in the system for long. If this is being said by someone else, it will be a different ball game altogether. But if it’s President Mahama whom Koku Anyidoho has described as incompetent to steer the affairs of the NDC- let alone running a country, let us not waste our time.” Lawyer Obiri stated.
He maintained that government has done a lot for Ghanaians particularly in the educational sector where he cited the Free Senior High School policy and the restoration of teacher and nursing trainee allowances.
