President commiserates with Veep on mother’s loss

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo Monday called at the residence of Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to condole with him on the loss of his mother.

Hajia Mariama Bawumia, mother of Vice President Bawumia died in the early hours of Monday after a short illnes. She was 81 years.

She is to be buried on Tuesday, September 14 , 2021, in Walewale in accordance with Islamic custom.

“My wife Rebecca and I came to express our condolences and sympathies to the Vice President and his family at the sad loss of his mother,” wrote President Akufo-Addo in a condolence booked opened for Hajia Mariama.

“She was a delightful and courteous lady who looked after us very well at the occasions that we met her here and at Walewale.

“We ask for God’s blessing on her and for a peaceful rest in His bosom.

“May her soul be at peace.”

The President was also accompanied by the Chief of Staff, Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, government officials and some New Patriotic Party top party stalwarts.
