All speculations about the yet to be released list of nominees for the positions of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) will be over tomorrow Sunday, September 19, 2021. Gabby Otchere-Darko, a leading member of the governing New Patriotic Party, has said.

In a post on his facebook page, Mr. Otchere-Darko announced that “The Local Government Minister alongside the Information Minister, shall address a press conference and put out the official list of MCEs and DCEs out. The only list which matters! Same list will be put on the Info Ministry website afterwards so you can check it for yourself. Until then, we are advised to ignore all lists and publications for just one day p3!”

He continued that “Finally, this is not a do of die affair. The president appoints and he does so not to deliberately disappoint anyone but to get his work done. It is that simple. Let’s live with it and make progess.”

Perhaps Mr. Otchere-Darko’s announcement was to address calls from some members of the public on the government to release the official list of the MMDCEs because according to them, it had unduly delayed.

The delay also led to the circulation of documents on various media platforms purported to be the official list; which the public was later asked to disregard.

It could be recalled that the Director of Communications at the Presidency, Eugene Arhin, reportedly said President Akufo-Addo was to deliver final list of his nominees to the local government minister last Tuesday.
