Deputy Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Upper East Region, Johnson Ayine, has posited that his party has more competent persons who qualify to serve in leadership positions if there was the need for more appointees.

Mr. Ayine made this comments in his attempt to urge members of the governing party to exercise calm and accept the list of nominated Municipal and District Chief Executives (MDCEs) in the region.

Speaking on A1 Radio’s Daybreak Upper East programme, he said “Finally, the President has named the MMDCE nominees that he thinks can support him in his bit to accelerate the development of the country. Congratulations to the lucky ones and to the unlucky ones, its not a do-or-die affair. It’s a family thing and all of them are competent.”

“I always say that in the NPP, if we are to even put up 10 to 15 sets of cabinet ministers, we can do so because we have the competent people. When it comes to the MMDCE, we can have 260 and another 260 up to 30 sets; and all of them will still be competent people. So we shouldn’t be demoralized. Supporters shouldn’t think that their favorites were not nominated by the President and for that matter, it means their contribution to the party has not been recognized; or their hope of getting something is dashed.”

Mr. Ayine therefore called on members of the NPP as well as residents in the Upper East Region to remain calm over the announcement of the nominations of MDCEs for the area; adding that the nominees were their own people.

He further urged Assembly Members across the region to join efforts in working towards the confirmation of the nominees in the region as soon as possible.
