The Upper East Regional Manager of Zoomlion Ghana Limited, a west management giant in Ghana, John Sacky, has called on the people of Upper East to adopt the culture of tree planting to help improve the climate conditions in the region.
Government in June, this year, kick-started an exercise to plant trees as part of efforts to preserve the environment.
In line with this initiative Zoomlion Ghana Limited in the Upper East Region has taken upon itself to plant one thousand and five hundred trees across the region.
Speaking in an interview with A1 Radio on the sideline of a tree-planting exercise at the yet-to-be opened Upper East Regional Zoomlion office at Pusu-Namongo in theTalensi District, Mr. Sacky admonished the public to plant enough trees in their compounds to serve as windbreaks.
He said, “There a popular adage that when the last tree dies, the last man dies. My advice for the Ghanaian populace is that, let us look at places around us and grow as many trees as possible so that our environment will be very healthy.”
Mr. Sacky also indicated the willingness of his outfit to partner with government to ensure that enough trees are planted in the Upper East Region.
The Green Ghana Project seeks to address the depleting forest cover of the country.
