Love, they say is reciprocal; but some ladies in the Bolgatanga Municipality of the Upper East Region believe otherwise.

According to them, giving hundred percent affection to a man is like digging one’s own grave.

Speaking in random interviews with A1Radioonline.com, the ladies lamented that most men turn to act cruelly towards ladies who love them unconditionally; and same men generally do not regret their actions.

Rita, a resident of Tindonsobligo said “Growing up as a girl, one thing I have learned in my love life is never to fall in love completely with a man. I was once a victim, I will tell you that I nearly died. This man I was into really shown me pepper. initially, the love was perfect but when he found out I was so much in love with him, he started acting strange. We were not married but he treated me like a slave. At some point, many people including my parents were suspecting that he used juju me.”

Based on her experience, Rita said though, she is married, she will never show total affection to her husband.

“..what I went through with my ex-boyfriend, I have vowed never to experience such in my life again. Now I’m with my husband and we have two children but I know how to play my cards.” She noted.

Talata, another lady who told this reporter that men are all the same recounted that “I loved Max to the fullest; I could do anything for him just to make him happy. I went to the extent of buying foodstuffs, clothing and even a king size mattress for him. But you know what, when Max realized that I was totally in love with him, he started declining my calls and speaking anyhow to me. The last one that forced me to end that relationship was the night he locked me outside his room which I contributed to paying the rent.”

“The fact is that, most men don’t deserve our love.” She said with tears in her eyes.

Teni, a married woman with three children also maintained that the best way to treat a man is not to give him full attention.

According to her “If you give him [a man] full attention, he will think that you value him more than yourself. In whatever you are doing always put yourself above everything. If you have children as I do, see them to be your priority and not the man. Men are never to be trusted. I’m a businesswoman; I don’t even have time and he knows.”
