Former Upper East Regional Minister, Tangoba Abayage, has expressed worry over the rejection of Agnes Anamoo as the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Nabdam.

Madam Anamoo who served as DCE for the area during President Akufo-Addo’s first tenure Thursday, failed to secure two-thirds of the votes required from Assembly Members for her retention.

Speaking in an interview on A1 Radio, Madam Tangoba described the rejected DCE nominee as a development oriented woman and a unifier who has undertaken policies and programmes that have propelled the district to development in her four years of serving the people of the area.

She recounted how traditional authorities in the Nabdam enclave always praised Madam Anamoo for her impressive work; to the extent of recommending her to the President for promotion to a higher office.

“It is supposed to happen but it has happened. This is a woman who has performed fantastically for the district over the four years; she is one of the hardworking DCEs we have in the region and this is not from me but from indigenes from Nabdam, the chief and the opinion leaders. They all scored the woman a good grade based on what she had done as the District Chief Executive. So it is unfortunate that she couldn’t go through.”

Madam Tangoba was hopeful that “in the next round, the assembly members will please do the right thing by giving her the nod so she will continue with the work. Let’s leave our differences aside. When you have an assignment to be possible, you got to put your personal differences aside and prosecute the agenda. I am hoping that they are able to do that.”

The assembly members are expected by law to convene 10 days later for another round of voting for the confirmation or otherwise of Madam Anamoo.
