UER: 3rd DCE nominee rejected as Osman Musah of Garu fails to gain two-third majority

The District Chief Executive (DCE) nominee for Garu, Osman Musah, has been rejected by Assembly Members; making the number of DCE nominee in the Upper East Region who have failed to gain confirmation three so far.

In an election to confirm his nomination on Monday, October 4, 2021, he polled 10 out of 19 votes with one spoilt ballot; representing 52.6 percent.

The rejection of Mr. Musah who was the Parliamentary Candidate of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the Garu Constituency in the 2020 election follows that of Agnes Anamoo and Paul Azumah Abugri of Nabdam and Tempane Districts respectively.

Madam Anamoo and Mr. Abugri were among Municipal and District Chief Executives (MDCEs) in the region who earned renomination to serve a second term whiles Mr. Musah came as a first timer.
