The Community Development Alliance (CDA), a non-profit organisation based in the Upper West Region, has begun reactivating Health Committees within the Wa Municipality. The Health Committees are expected to champion ‘Maternal and Newborn Quality of care Interventions’ and to help create demand for Exclusive Breastfeeding practices among mothers.

With the help of Health Committee members at Boli, a community in the Wa Municipality, CDA-Ghana in partnership with UNICEF-Ghana successfully held a durbar to discuss pertinent issues related to Maternal and Newborn Quality of care Interventions within the Boli enclave.

Community members impressed with the feedback from the Health committee, pledged to make sure inadequate male involvement in the birth and nursing process of babies and other challenges identified are addressed.

A similar durbar was organised by Health committee members at the Tabiasi community. The members restated their commitment to making sure Maternal and Newborn Quality of care Interventions are scaled-up and to also encourage male involvement in all related Maternal Interventions. CDA-Ghana is led by Mr. Salifu Issifu Kanton.
