The Upper East Regional Police command has today commiserated with relatives of police officers who lost their lives in the line of duty this year.
At a ceremony held at the Upper East Regional Police headquarters in Bolgatanga, the Regional Commander of the Regional Police Command, Deputy Commissioner of Police, (DCOP) Dr. Sayibu Pabi Gariba noted that the Police administration set aside November 2nd each year to demonstrate to the world that the Police Service is worth dying for.
According to Dr. Gariba, who was speaking on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo-Dampare, all the hard-working police officers who lost their lives while preforming their legitimate duties will continue to be recognized by the police.
“The Ghana Police Service has dedicated 2nd November every year in honor of our gallant colleagues who have passed on in course of duty. It is said that any organization that fails to honour its heros is not worth dying for. The Ghana police service as an organization wants to always remain [one that is] worth dying for.
And it is for this reason the police administration and the government of Ghana have dedicated 2nd November 2021 and 2nd November every year commiserate the memory pf personnel who whilst preforming their legitimate duties fell in the lined of duty”
Meanwhile, fortunately for the Upper East Region, out of 42 casualties the police administration has recorded since 2016 to date across the country, the region had no casualty. The Greater Accra region topped the list with 14 casualties.
