Members of the Upper East Regional Communication Team for the New Patriotic Party, (NPP), have rubbished claims by one Wilson Dabou who suggested that party communicators in the region are being shortchanged by the current Regional Communications Director of the party, Mr. Sanusi Issah.

In a statement jointly signed by Mr. Samuel Akonga, Mr. Johnson Ayine, Mr. Joseph Singe Mbamaaliya, and Mr. Eddy Murphy, communicators of the party, and copied to A1 Radio, the claims made by Mr. Wilson Dabuo were described as ‘wild and disdainful’. They stated that the individual, Mr. Dabou, is not known to them and as such, is not in any position to speak for them.

“It has come to the attention of the communication team of the NPP in the Upper East Region that one Mr. Wilson Dabou made certain wild and disdainful allegations on the 26th October 2021 on various platforms regarding the plight of the regional communication team members. As a communication outfit of the party, we wish to state unequivocally that the said personality is not known to us as a member cannot be said to be speaking for on our behalf,” the statement read.

The quartet asked the public to disregard the information put out by Mr. Dabou and treat it with the contempt it deserves.

“We, therefore, wish to collectively disassociate ourselves from such misguided comments he made against the affected individuals and invariably the New Patriotic Party. Again, it is important to state that all the sources of remittance he alleged are a complete fabrication hence, should be disregarded. The communication team is of the belief that such elusive statements as espoused by him were borne out of naivety and lack of clear understanding of the modus operandi of the party structures,” the statement indicated.

The statement further urged the media “to desist from engaging him as a member of the communication team as his views do not represent that of the communication team.”

Wilson Dabuo’s claims

Communication Team Member of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Wilson Dabuo labeled the Director of Communications of the party in the region, Issah Sanusi as a corrupt leader whose sole interest is to amass wealth for himself to the detriment of subordinate’s welfare.

He spilled the beans that mountain of promises were given to party communicators in the region, upon Sanusi’s assumption of power in 2018, including paying communicators on monthly basis and awarding them motorbikes, mobile phones among others.

This he said gave the communicators a glimmer of hope that their plights were going to be lessened but the current communications director has only added insult to their injuries.

In a statement, Mr. Dabuo also accused Mr. Sanusi of not being a transparent leader. He said everything regarding the party communicators’ finances has always been shrouded in secrecy.

“…under his leadership, which conveniently formed the basis of his description as a Profiteering Puppet, the consistency and regularity with which the remittances came from the presidency, the Vice President and the National security Minister, began to witness a dwindling effect and to some extent could be described as a drought in perpetuity. From an earlier remittance of ghc800, it came down to ghc350, then to ghc300, and then to ghc200. In this trend, however, it will take the members three months or more before the latter could be paid. Sometimes, it becomes clearly impossible to find out the source of the money because of its irregularities. You dare not ask for clarity. When you do, he would tag you with suspicion.”

He thus wants the current crop of the party’s leaders in the region to be changed completely.
