The Upper East Regional Public Relations Officer for the Ghana Education Service (GES) Mr. Nathaniel N-yaaba has given the assurance that the GES together with its stakeholders will do the best it can to ensure the safety of students, invigilators and supervisors during the ongoing Basic Education Certificate Examinations (B.E.C.E).

He said stakeholders involved in the process are committed to ensuring that no student or school is given an unfair advantage because of the leakage of the papers. Mr. N-yaaba said this when he was speaking to Samuel Mbura on A1 Radio’s Day Break Upper East Show.

“The B.E.C.E [papers] are locked up and secured properly at the various districts police stations where no leakages are expected,” he said.

He added that to ensure that students are unable to carry foreign materials into the various examination halls, students have been asked to wear sandals instead of shoes. Mr. N-yaaba insisted that invigilators and supervisors are to ensure that students strictly adhere to the rules of the examination.

Mr. N-yaaba said GES is on the lookout for pregnant candidates who are participating in this year exam.

A total of 22,121 candidates are expected to write the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the Upper East Region. Out of the number, 11,544 are females while 10,577 are males.
