The District Chief Executive for Talensi, Thomas Duanab Wuni has disclosed that the ambulance allocated to the Talensi Constituency has been fixed and returned to the area. He was responding to the National Democratic Congress’s Talensi District Director of Communication Michael Nangena who claimed that the ambulance had broken down and was not available for use.

Speaking to Samuel Mbura on A1 Radio’s Day Break Upper East Show, Mr. Wuni explained that due to the nature of the roads and the speed at which the ambulances travel, it is to be expected that there will be intermittent breakdowns.

“The ambulance has been fixed and brought back. I believe the reason for acquiring the ambulance was to help our people. The speed with which our ambulances go and the type of roads we have in this country, they are prone to having accidents. When you have too many of them breaking down at the same time, you need to schedule them to fix them. Yes, there may have been a delay in bringing back the ambulance but the ambulance is currently in the district,” he explained.

He said the Talensi area is within the 4-zone belt; Bolgantanga, Talensi, Bongo and Bolgatanga East and sometimes Nabdam; a zone that pools its ambulances. This he explained meant that any of these areas could rely on the ambulance of the other areas, should the affected area face problems with their ambulance.

Mr. Wuni said the Assembly is currently in talks with the Ghana Ambulance Service to find an office space that will accommodate personnel of the Service.

Earlier on the same platform, Mr. Nangena claimed that some pregnant women had to rely on tricycles be able to be transported to the health facility for health care.
