Private Legal Practitioner, John Ndebugri has described as ‘foolish’, suggestions mooted by some members of the public that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) should petition the Supreme Court to set aside the rejection of the 2022 Budget Statement and Economic Policy. He said such a move will be an absolute waste of time explaining that a case like that could take a minimum of 3 months to be finalized. Mr. Ndeubgri stressed that the country does not have the luxury of time.

He encouraged the Majority group in Parliament to rather engage the Minority in discussions that will inure to the benefit of Ghanaians. He said further disagreements and misunderstandings could lead the country into an unwanted constitutional crisis.

He shared these sentiments when he spoke to Samuel Mbura on A1 Radio’s Day Break Upper East Show. “It will be foolish [to go file a case at the Supreme Court]. If you go and file papers at the Supreme Court for the Supreme Court to declare that what happened was unconstitutional, you have no idea it will take for the Supreme Court to decide this matter. Processes have to be gone through and it can take a minimum of 3months for the case to be decided meanwhile, we are almost in 2022. It will be foolish to do that,” he explained.

Mr. Ndebugri expressed surprise that the Majority who called for a Division decided to walk out on their own decision. “You cannot take a matter to Parliament and then when we are about to determine the matter, you walk out. You were the one who applied for the decision, in the process of the Division, you, in some rowdy manner, walk out of the place,” he said.

He said the Majority group in Parliament should eat the humble pie and approach the Minority in meekness.
