UE: MTN Ghana puts smiles on 40 mothers of babies delivered on Christmas Day

40 mothers who gave birth on Christmas day in the Upper East Region have been given a hamper each to help cushion them for a period. Ghana’s leading telecommunication giant, MTN which has been doing this annually brought smiles to the faces of the mothers by supporting them with assorted baby products.

These mothers were visited at the maternity wards of the Upper East Regional Hospital in Bolgatanga Municipality, Bongo District Hospital, and War Memorial hospital in the Kassena-Nankana Municipality.

Upper East Regional Sales and Marketing Manager of MTN, Richard Asamane said the gesture which formed the corporate social responsibility of the company of sharing the joy of the season hopes to put smiles on the faces of the mothers.

Mr. Asamane indicated that the gesture was not limited to mothers and babies born on the 25th of December in the Upper East Region, but the annual ritual was being carried out in all the 16 regions of the country.

“We are donating about 500 hampers throughout the 16 regions. For the whole of the Upper East Region, we are distributing 40 hampers to the mothers and their babies. The entire 500 hampers across the country cost MTN Ghc150, 000.00”

He seized the opportunity to advise the mothers to take proper care of the babies. The MTN Regional Sales and Marketing Manager reminded the public of the need to continue adhering to all the COVID-19 safety protocols to stem its spread, especially since the country has recorded the new variant, OMICRON.

Judith Akolbila, a beneficiary, thanked MTN for the support to her and her baby, and wished the company “continues to touch more lives because some mothers who went to the hospital with nothing were going home with something.”

Another mother, Jambeidu Victoria a staff of Melcom Limited-Bolgatanga branch who pledged to continue using the services of MTN, thanked the company for the support.

“I have enough to take home and these items they have given me, in fact, it will take me a while before a can buy some of the baby’s items.”

Each of the hampers comprises baby diapers, baby wipes, pampers, baby towels, soaps, cussion baby oil, sanitizers, and others.
