Member of the New Patriotic Party’s Upper East Regional Team, Moses Amoah has applauded A1 Radio, a subsidiary of the Agreed Best Communications Company Ltd for partnering with telecommunications giant, MTN and Aqua Bolga to bring the sim card re-registration exercise to the doorsteps of residents in Tindonsobligo and Tindonmolgo.

Speaking to Samuel Mbura on A1 Radio’s Day Break Upper East, Mr. Amoah said commendation was due staff and management of the media outfit for the bold gesture to, as part of its corporate social responsibilities, use its premises to offer residents in Tindonsobligo a faster and more convenient way to re-register their sim cards as has been directed by the National Communications Authority (NCA).

“I commend you [A1 Radio]. You are doing a yeoman’s job especially going into partnership with MTN [for the re-registration exercise]. You are bringing people from Tindonsobligo and Tindonmolgo to re-register their sim cards. It is good and I wish to commend you guys for that great job”.

“This is not the first time. You have undertaken a lot of corporate social responsibilities across the length and breadth of the Upper East Region. We are grateful for that,” he said.

Background

A1 Radio, in collaboration with MTN Ghana and Aqua Bolg Mineral Water in Bolgatanga, is carrying out a sim re-registration exercise. The exercise, which entered its fourth day today January 20, 2022, is targeted at residents in the Tindonsobligo community; particularly the aged, pregnant women and persons living with some forms of disabilities.

Speaking to Samuel Mbura on Break Upper East, the General Manager of A1 Radio, William Nlanjerbor Jalulah explained that the exercise forms part of the company’s public service duty. Mr. Jalulah said the exercise for the public was decided on after a show of interest by residents within the Tindonsobligo community when a similar exercise was organised recently for staff and their families in the premises of the media company.

“We made the arrangement with MTN earlier and they came to do the re-registration for us at the office for all staff and their families. We were surprised by the number of people who we did not even know who still came to register. Then we invited Vodafone, we had the same with them and people came around to register”.

Most of the residents explained the processes involved in the re-registration of sim cards at A1 Radio have been largely smooth. They however called for other organisations to partner with the telecommunication companies to allow other residents access a more convenient way to re-register their sim cards.

Augustine Ayine said “ as you can see, we are here trying to link our Ghana Card with our SIM cards. I think if they want to continue doing this, then they should increase the branches and it will be better for us. I think the queue here compared to the office is better because in the office the queue is too long and at the end of the day they may not be able to do it and will still come back home and in the next day they are expected to be there. So, I think this one is better but they should try and increase the branches so that it can be more convenient and easier for us”.

“For here, I don’t know whether it’s because the people are not many or what; the queue is moving faster as compared to the main office,” said Felix Akolbire.

Another patron who gave her name as Esther also said “though I just came, I can see that the queue is moving faster compared to town. So, the process is very convenient”.
