Radio personality and politician, Paul Duncan, has said he is very optimistic of winning this year’s best reggae show host at the Radio and Television Personality awards.

Paul Duncan faces stiffer opposition from Blakk Rasta, Baba Angida, Conscious Queen and Bonti Tawala who he lost to in last year’s awards.

Speaking to Worshipper on A1 Radio’s midmorning show, work and happiness Wednesday, Paul Duncan expressed his optimism at winning the award this time around saying “I am deeply humbled for been chosen to represent the three Northern Regions, Brong Ahafo and the Volta Region. I know that with the number of regions I am representing, I am going to win the award this year.”

Duncan who lost the in same category last year explained that his lose last year was because, Big Events Ghana, organizers of the award scheme did not inform him about his nomination neither did they give him the short code through which his fans could vote for him hence his lose.

“I was not informed when I was nominated for last year’s award. Organizers of the show did not even call to even give me the short code through which I could make my fans vote for me. I was kept in the dark the whole time so I lost but this time around I am winning and bringing it to the Upper East region.”

Paul who was humbled for been nominated for the second time noted that although he has not been informed formally by the event organizers, he will canvas for huge number of votes but also called on other broadcasters in Upper East Region to join him canvass for votes.

He however bemoaned the organizers’ focus on only Accra and Kumasi-based radio stations saying “it was high time organizers get serious with these kinds of awards. Radio personalities in regions other than Greater Accra and Ashanti are exhibiting high standard of professionalism and are causing greater changes in regions where they work.”

He stressed on the need for a combined effort by all media practitioners in the three Northern Regions to register their displeasure at the utter neglect of radio personalities in the Region.
