Parents of pupils of Zaare Experimental Basic School in Bolgatanga Municipality have shed tears of joy after Jackson College of Education donated 100 dual desks to their wards.

They say their children have been lying on the concrete floor to learn in the school for many years, and have never dreamed of seeing a day like that; where their wards will get desks to sit on and learn.

Apamniga Adongo, mother of a class two pupil recounted the struggles she encountered ever since her daughter was enrolled on Zaare Experimental school.

She said “…the very day, my daughter (Adongo Purity) went to the school, I have been spending half of my savings on buying soaps. There is no blessed day that I will not wash her uniforms. Though I sewed three uniforms, washing every day was mandatory work for me, because she always lies on the floor to learn at school. God will richly bless the authorities for supporting our children.”

Zaare Experimental school for the past years, has lacked inadequate furniture and quality learning materials despite being in the heart of the Municipality.

Speaking on the intervention, the Principal of Jackson College of Education, Mrs Theodosia Jackson noted that when she first saw videos of the pupils lying on the floor to learn, it brought tears to her heart.

She said “I couldn’t believe what my eyes were seeing. In this 21st century pupils still lie on the floor to learn. So, I decided to devise means of helping these little ones through quality education. I know what has been donated can’t fulfil all the pupils’ needs, it will go a long way to help them.”

Mrs Jackson also assured that she and the institute of Jackson College of Education will continue to render support for the school.

The second of their agenda, she said, will be to paint the entire school and support the school with teaching materials.

Appreciating the gesture do them, the headmistress of Zaare Experimental, Madam Nsoh Gladys called on parents and teachers to see the support as a stepping stone to instilling discipline and quality education amongst the pupils.

She, therefore, assured to put the donated desks to effective use, adding that the public can still come to the school aid as pupils still lack technological advancements.
