Despite the apparent general discomfort and apprehension by Ghanaians, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) remains the best party to manage the affairs of the country. It also remains Ghana’s best bet against mitigating the global economic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic while looking to grow an exciting, buoyant economy that provides jobs, sustains businesses and allows for rapid physical infrastructural development.

The MP for Binduri, in the Upper East Region, made these comments when he spoke on A1 Radio’s Day Break Upper East.

“COVID was terrible and it is still so. People cannot travel, businesses are not being run like before. Before COVID, you saw how the economy of this country was going. We were cruising, but for COVID, it would have been a different thing. We need that type of economic growth at the rate of 6.6 per cent, 7 per cent, for a long time to have the kind of development we need,” he said.

Mr. Abanga said while his position as a ‘lone ranger’ for the NPP in the region is a bit difficult, he is up to the task and would continue to work to improve the fortunes of the NPP in the Upper East Region arguing that at the end of 2024, the people of the region will see the reasons to send more NPP MPs to Parliament.

“When it comes to the region, I can only join the bigger Regional [Parliamentary] Group. When it comes to joining an NPP Regional Group, I am a one-man caucus. It makes it difficult to run the affairs well, but that is what it is but I am trying to do my best. We have to serve the people well, and hope that people will see our performance and support the party support the party next time,” he said.
