The Upper East Regional Chief Imam, Alhaji Shiek Tahir Saeed has asked the various District and Municipal Imams to use Friday prayers (Jum’ah) to promote peace in disturbed areas in the region.

According to Alhaji Shiek Tahir Saeed, peace and tranquillity are the only roadmaps to building a prosperous society.

He said, “… Bawku, Doba and Kandiga deserve better and we as peace-loving people owe it a duty to ask Allah for His mercifulness. From now onwards, Jum’ah should be used to promote peace and unity. We have come a long way as people and a region.”

The Chief Imam made the call at his residence when he met with all-district Imams to deliberate on issues of growth, especially within Muslim communities.

He also used the meeting to brief the Imams on the Halal committee meeting held in Accra and how they can all collectively observe the new moon for fastening.

Alhaji Shiek Tahir together with the Imams, however, called on the youth especially those at the dispute areas to seek peace and development.
