Former Municipal Chief Executive for Bolgatanga Municipality, Hon. Epsona Harry Ayamga has joined the race for the MCE position A1 Radio news has learnt.

The MCE position for the Bolgatanga Municipal Chief Executive became vacant after the former MCE, Hon. Edward Ayiriba Ayagle handed over to the Upper East Regional Minister on August 18th 2015. Hon. Ayagle was appointed on May 25th 2011 following the dismissal of Hon. Epsona Ayamga.

There were incessant calls for the MCE to step down when his tenure of office expired in May 2015. He subsequently handed over to the Regional Minister.

Hon. Ayamga Harry Epsona is seeking a reappointment to the position as MCE after he was relieved of his position in March 2011 by the erstwhile John Atta Mills’ Administration.

His dismissal generated apprehension among the rank and file of the National Democratic Congress in the region as it was purported that his dismissal was a calculated and worked-out plan by his detractors to oust him. He was accused of mismanagement and bad conduct and a controversial petition was purportedly signed by some unknown persons and sent to the presidency seeking for his removal.

Hon. Harry Epsona is in a tight race with nine other men including the immediate former Municipal Chief Executive Hon. Edward Ayiriba Ayagle and a woman Christiana Azure Ayinzoya.

These applicants are currently being vetted to prune the number down to an undisclosed number as the beginning of the series of stages to getting appointed.
