It appears the conversation surrounding the Bolgatanga Airport in the Upper East Region would not die any time soon as ‘netizens’ [citizens of the internet] have taken to social media to roast the Member of Parliament for Zebilla Constituency over his comments about the region’s lack of an airport.

It could be recalled that on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, on A1 Radio’s flagship programme,  DayBreak Upper East, Cletus Avoka, MP for Zebilla mentioned in an interview that, “the Upper East is an old Region which should have had an Airport but is a shame and disappointing there isn’t any”.

He went on to say that “we are an older region than the Upper West Region and they have not just an airstrip but an airport that is a disgrace to us, it is a challenge to us in the Upper East Region. We should unite and then work for the region,” he stated.

But His did not go down well with Facebook users as they expressed their disgust over the Legislator’s comments. According to them, Mr. Avoka, a leading Member of the National Democratic Congress during their tenure office, should have used that privilege to lobby for an Airport than rather resorting to complaints now.

A user by name, Wilfred Abologo Alloh queried, “now that you are in opposition, you know this, how many years did the NDC rule the country? You were part of the 3-wise men. What effort did you do?”

Another said, “these our greedy brothers think they are smart. He has been in Parliament several times, what effort has he put in place concerning the airport? He always has vision when in opposition but visionless in government “.

Another user, Musah Kafando Abdul Razak bemoaned “ you should rather be ashamed of yourself for not lobbying for that(airport)”.
