The Bolgatanga Municipal Chief Executive, Rex S.A Asanga has expressed deep concern over teacher absenteeism and poor supervision among other educational challenges bedevilling the educational sector in the municipality.
Addressing the 65th independence day celebration in Bolgatanga today the MCE said, the Assembly is making efforts to promote education in the municipality but the issues of teacher absenteeism, teenage pregnancy as well as lack of supervision in the municipality is a big worry.

“It is regrettable to note that in the face of these efforts to promote education in the Municipality the sector continues to be bedevilled by teacher absenteeism, teenage pregnancy and poor supervision resulting in outcomes that we cannot be proud of as a Municipality,” he said
Mr. Asanga, therefore, used the opportunity and appeal to parents, traditional leaders, as well as authorities not to leave the responsibilities the pupils and students on the shoulders of teachers alone. He called for concerted efforts to change the narrative in the municipality.
