The Upper Regional Minister, Stephen Yakubu has chided sections of the public for trying to rubbish the donations that were made towards the construction of the National Cathedral.

The Ghc105,000 donation was handed over to the Secretariat of the National Cathedral.

According to Mr. Yakubu, residents of the region should be proud of the donation and not try to ridicule the contribution made by the region.

He noted that “our children’s children will be proud of us when they travel to Accra and see that the region contributed towards the building of the National Cathedral”.

He said this when he spoke to Mark Kwasi Ahumah Smith on A1 Radio’s Day Break Upper East.

It could but be recalled that Upper East Regional Coordinating donated an amount of Ghc.105,000.00 on behalf of the people of the region to the coffers of the National Cathedral to help in its construction.

The move did not go down well with some residents who believed that the money could have been used to sponsor further development projects especially in education rather than using it for National Cathedral.

But answering a question on how these monies were raised, the Regional Minister stated “let me put it on record the money is not government money but it is from the benevolent contributions of residents and constituency put together, so we should always play politics with everything”.
