While the majority of residents who interacted on A1 Radio’s Offical Facebook page were displeased about the Ghc105,000 donation made towards to construction of the National Cathedral, ‘Obaa Selina’, a Facebook user has mounted what could best be described as a spirited defence in support of the move.

“In everything, God first. So, prominent issues are not more important than God. Please let us look to Jesus Christ. Upper E [Region] ast you are blessed for taking that strong decision,”Selina wrote.

Another user, Mohammed Nash Sakande, sympathized with the Minister saying, “if your boss asks you to do something, can you deny [it]? [It] is a big no, so, we understand your problem”.

It would be recalled that there were media reports that suggested that the Upper East Regional Coordinating Council, led by the Minister, Stephen Yakubu has donated sGhc105,000 towards the construction of the National Cathedral.

The action generated an immediate buzz on the Offical Facebook page of A1 Radio.

In sharp responses to Selina however, a user names Nan Tamba wrote, “our biggest challenge as Africans, and for that matter Ghanaians, is religion. We are where we are because religion has indeed brainwashed us”.

“Eii obaa don’t bring kraaaa. With all this time where people are finding it difficult to get good drinking water, bad roads, insecurity among others in the region and you are giving this money out for this ungodly thing? Oh, Upper East I am highly flabbergasted in you people,” Suleiman A. Saddique Asaana said.

Meanwhile, the Upper Regional Minister, Stephen Yakubu has called out sections of the public he believes are just trying to rubbish the donations over to the Secretariat of the National Cathedral by the Regional Coordinating Council.

The Ghc105,000 donation was made in support of the building of the National Cathedral.

According to Mr. Yakubu residents of the region should have been proud of the donation rather than try to ridicule the contribution made by the region.
