Social media users who have come across the media report detailing the donation of Ghc105,000 towards the construction of the National Cathedral continue to register their displeasure.

The users, who interacted on A1 Radio’s Facebook page opined that the donation could mean that the Regional Minister, Stephen Yakubu, ‘may not have his ducks in a row’.

Some users went on to suggest that, Jesus Christ, known as the Messiah for many Christians, would not even be happy with the donation as it constitutes “misplaced priorities”.

Abubakari Ayuba wrote, “Jesus Christ after looking at our current state as a region won’t be happy with this donation”.

Another user, Issah Alhassan said, “Jesus Christ will not be happy with it”.

Others implied that religion continues to retard the progress of development because of similar decisions as these. “Our biggest challenge as Africans, and for that matter Ghanaians is religion. We are where we are because religion has indeed brainwashed us,” Nan Tamba wrote.

Meanwhile, the Upper Regional Minister, Stephen Yakubu has called out sections of the public he believes are just trying to rubbish the donations over to the Secretariat of the National Cathedral by the Regional Coordinating Council.

The Ghc105,000 donation was made in support of the building of the National Cathedral.

According to Mr. Yakubu residents of the region should have been proud of the donation rather than try to ridicule the contribution made by the region.
