UW: Persons living with mental health disorders receive COVID-19 jabs

Bahass Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation based in the Upper West Region has organised a COVID-19 vaccination exercise for persons living with some form of mental health disorder in the Upper East Region. This was after the Foundation’s weekly bathing and feeding programme for persons living with mental health conditions.

The exercise was to ensure that although living with mental health conditions, such persons look kempt, healthy and still have a connection with society.

Below is the full statement of the exercises as shared on the Official Facebook page of the Executive Director of Bahass Foundation Ilyasu Yussif Baba.

“Wa based not-for-profit organisation, Bahass Foundation Ghana has climaxed its weekly bathing and feeding of the mentally retarded patients in the community with a historic vaccination on COVID 19.

The assembled mentally ill patients were given jabs against the dreaded COVID 19 after their routine bathing and medication.

The massively patronized programme saw scores of patients given vaccines from qualified medical personnel in the company of workers from the foundation.

The exercise is expected to be extended in the coming weeks with the sole aim of getting all the mentally retarded patients vaccinated within the nearest possible time.

Bahass Foundation has evolved into one of the biggest humanitarian NGOs in the Northern belt of Ghana”.
