The Upper East Regional Office of the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has organized its annual training workshop for sachet water producers in the region.
The workshop aimed to educate producers on Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) to ensure the production of high-quality and safe sachet water for consumers.
Abel Ndego, Acting Regional Head of the FDA in the Upper East Region, emphasized the importance of GMPs in maintaining the quality and safety of sachet water. He stated that water is life, and it is crucial for the FDA to ensure that producers adhere to good practices in their production facilities.
“In the case of sachet water, we are primarily focused on quality and safety. So we have gathered here today to share ideas on best practices, and what is recommended by the guidelines and international standards. This will help equip our sachet water producers to ensure that the water they produce meets the highest standards of quality and safety,” he said.
He added that the training would help guarantee that water sold to consumers meets all required standards. The workshop focused on teaching and reinforcing best practices in the manufacturing of sachet water in the region.
The training covered key areas, including proper hygiene and sanitation practices in production facilities, correct water treatment and purification methods, packaging and labeling standards, regulatory compliance, and FDA monitoring processes.
Thomas Anthony Baba Piameng, Chairman of the Sachet Water Producers Association in the Upper East Region, commended the FDA for organizing the training and urged members to strictly adhere to safety protocols.
