The vetting committee for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Upper West Regional Executive Committee has cleared all 34 candidates seeking various positions after the vetting process was concluded on Wednesday, May 18, 2022, Al Radio News can confirm.

This paves way for candidates to intensify their respective campaigns ahead of the election later this month.

The NPP on May 15, 2022 opened nominations for aspirants interested in contesting for various regional executive positions. The Upper West Regional Communication Director for the NPP, Bukari Ali who spoke to Al Radio News yesterday said he was not anticipating any disqualification at the end of the vetting process.

“The vetting committee is duty-bound to file a report. You know they are members of the committee led by a chairman and a secretary. They will have to compile the report which would be forwarded to the party’s headquarters in Accra. Even though the aspirants have started campaigning already, they would have been deemed to have been cleared by the vetting committee if the committee so cleared them. Otherwise, you have been disqualified, but looking at the process, I don’t anticipate disqualification at the end of the day.”

Mr Ali says the process has been “very smooth, the atmosphere is very calm even though the weather is sunny and warm” no incident has been registered.

The positions to be contested are the Regional Chairperson; the first Regional Vice-Chairperson; the second Regional Vice-Chairperson; the Regional Secretary and the Assistant Regional Secretary.

The rest are the Regional Treasurer; the Regional Organiser; the Regional Women’s Organiser; the Regional Youth Organiser, and Regional Nasara Coordinator.
