The Member of Parliament for Binduri Constituency in the Upper East Region, Abdulai Abanga has charged delegates to vote based on competency as he was lonely in Parliament.

According to him, the mandate of the delegates can change the fortune of the party come 2024, hence they should focus on those who have the capabilities to lead the party to victory.

He spoke on the Day Break Upper East show on A1 Radio.

“I’m lonely in parliament, I’m not happy, I want, at the end of the day, to have someone in parliament to sit and discuss issues of development with on the side of NPP. Look at the massive investments President Akufo-Addo’s government has rendered to the people of the Upper East. But what happened in 2020? So, I expect the narrative to change come 2024. I want more NPP MPs to come from this region and you all have the power to do that”, he noted.

Adding that those who at the end of the day do not make it through should not see it as a contest but as a family thing as the focus would be how to break the eight years in power as a party.

“The thinking should be that yes, they did not vote for me because they think that someone can do it better than me. Yes, with that, we can grow as a party and break the eight years. So, I wish everyone the best of luck.”

Meanwhile, the MP also disclosed that Ghc 110, 000 had been spent to support 95 tertiary students in the area.

The initiative according to the MP, forms part of the “Binduri Must Develop” agenda, aimed at strengthening and developing the human capacity in the area.

Speaking on the Day Break Upper East show on A1 Radio, the MP who doubles the Deputy Works and Housing Minister noted that “I have spent a total amount of One Hundred and Ten Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHc 110,000) to support 95 students pursuing various programmes of study in tertiary institutions across the country. This is geared towards strengthening the human resources of my constituents to enable them to contribute meaningfully to community and national development.”
