Regional Executives of the NPP in the Upper East Region have opined that there may be a deliberate attempt by an unnamed individual or group of people to drive a wedge between the Regional Executives and the Regional Communication Team.

This is because, the regional executives suspect that the communicators have been fed with lies and half-truths, a situation that could derail the efforts of the party in the region.

This was contained in a statement signed by Mr. Awonekai and copied to the General Secretary of the Party John Boadu, Minister of Information Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, Regional Minister Stephen Yakubu, Deputy National Communications Director Kofi Agyapong and Deputy National Communications Director in charge of the Northern Zone Haruna Mohammed and sighted by a1radioonline.com.

It was in response to an earlier petition from some 33 regional communicators of the party to compel the regional executives of the party to withdraw the appointment of Peter Ayinbisa as Regional Director of Communications.

“Paragraph 9 [of the petitioners’ letter] which is erroneously stated as paragraph 8 of the petition is obviously another of the untruth calculated to draw a wedge between us and the Communication Team, majority of whom we believe are not being fed with the truth. The Regional Executives and the Regional Communications Officer have not conceived any such intention whatsoever and this can only be a figment of the imagination of someone who does not mean well for Regional Executives, the Communications Team and the NPP in general.”

“The petitioners claim in paragraph 9 which should correctly be paragraph 10 is yet again a deliberate ploy to as it were give a dog a bad name and hang it. We have and continue to work in the supreme interest of the party in the region and beyond. It is therefore inconceivable that the petitioners who claim to love this party so dearly will be wishing doom for the NPP which has by all standards through its platform or medium made some of the petitioners household names in the catchment area of the radio stations which they regularly appear and in addition raised their modus vivendi as well as enhanced their capacities as communicators,” portions of the statement read.

Meanwhile, the Regional Executives have given the impression that they would continue to stand by the decision they made to appoint Peter Ayinbisa as Regional Communications Director.

“By paragraph 11 which is again wrongly stated as paragraph 10, the appointment of Hon. Peter Ayinbisa has received high commendation in the region and beyond. The appointment in no uncertain terms is in line with the party’s constitution. The Regional Communications Officer started communicating for and on the behalf of the party over decades ago; a period most of the Regional Communication Team members through no fault of theirs would not know. The Regional Communication Officer is therefore part and an articulate member of the: Communication Team. Other party and government positions have conspired against his effective membership of the group for some years now.”
