The Upper East Regional Minister, Stephen Yakubu has indicated that the government is committed to doing 50 kilometres overlay to be distributed even in Bolgatanga; the Upper East Regional capital.
He said this in a recent interview [Friday, July 29, 2022] with A1 Radio’s Mark Smith. The Minister was responding to questions about the government’s commitment to fixing the roads in the Upper East Region.
“The regional capital was given a 50km overlay. I think that MyTurn, who unfortunately passed, was in charge of that. Part of it has been done, but it has not been completed.”
“He was not able to complete it because of lack of funds and all that,” he said.
Mr. Yakubu was of the opinion that once funds are made available to fund already existing contracts, the Upper East Region would become better.
“What I want to say is that as a Regional Minister coming in and looking at the road network in the Upper East Region if we are able to pay the contractors and they go back to site, I think that it will be good because these are most of our critical roads.”
He commended the contractors on the Bolga-Bawku-Pulimakom road for making good progress on the road.
