The Chief Executive Officer of the Neat Meat Company located in the Bawku West District, Lincoln Winimi Peeda has dispelled the wild claims made by a member of the NPP, Peter Azaare, that the Neat Meat Enterprise operating in Zebilla forms part of the government’s grand industrialization drive; One District One Factory (1D1F).

Mr. Winimi explained that while there may have been some attempts by the company to secure funding for expansion through the government’s policy, no agreements were reached and as such, the government has no stake in the factory.

He said this when he spoke on A1 Radio’s Day Break Upper East Show today, Tuesday, August 23, 2022.

“We tried to be a part of the network to be able to enjoy the opportunities that would be available under 1D1F. We were selected among the about 9 companies that were supposed to be part of the 1D1F. We got on board but along the line, what happened was that we were connected to the various banks to now provide the funding for us.”

“My company was connected to the Agricultural Development Bank in Bawku. They came and did the assessment of our operations and asked us to submit our request. We did submit our request and they gave us a term sheet. The term sheet was a kind of sheet that gave us some details about what the funding would look like.”

“We realized that the terms and conditions were not favourable to us as a company. It was looking more like the normal loans that you get when you walk into the bank. It wasn’t good for our business, the repayment time was too short and the interest rate was a bit high. We made some other analysis and realized that it was not good for our business and we pulled out,” he said.

It would be recalled that the NPP counted the Neat Meat Factory in Zebilla as part of the government’s flagship programme for industrialization; One District One Factory.

Speaking on the Day Break Upper East Show, Peter Azaare, a member of the NPP’s Upper East Regional Communication Team explained that the government had completed or was in the process of completing 4 factories in the Upper East Region.

“We have the Neat Meat Enterprise. That one is established in the Bawku West District. We have the New Vision Agro located in the Kassena Nankana West District. We also have the Talen Grey Limited also in Talensi and we are also revamping the Upper Quarry.”
