National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary candidate elect for Bolgatanga Central constituency, Isaac Adongo has pledged to work closely with his contenders in the just ended party primaries to retain the seat for the party.
According to him, the rich political experience gotten by the incumbent Member of Parliament, Akolbire Opam Brown and Lawyer Abraham Amaliba are significant in retaining the seat for the party come 2016.
The financial analyst in a Fecebook post wrote “I am privileged to have Hon. Opam Brown whose rich experience gained through 3 consecutive elections has equipped him to be an invaluable asset to us entering 2016. Abraham Amaliba did a great job in this election and will be a great backbone in our quest to not only retain the seat but ensure Nana Addo finds Bolga Central a ‘hell’.
Isaac Adongo obtained 4,219 votes beating the incumbent Akolbire Opam Brown who had 2,956 votes. Abraham Amaliba also pulled 3,052 while George Gamson managed to obtain 906 votes.
The NDC parliamentary candidate elect has therefore outlined 6 pillars to make a significant contribution to the development of the constituency if he is given the mandate as Member of Parliament.
The 6 pillars include livelihood empowerment, youth empowerment, accessible health care delivery, improved educational opportunities, infrastructural development and strengthening the party structures.
He seeks to achieve this vision by building a database of all Non-Governmental Organizations, donor projects and corporate foundations and build a register of pro-bono development and project development and fund raising consultants as a means of identifying and tapping into alternative funding sources. This alternatives approach according to Mr. Adongo will complement the traditional government resources earmarked for Bolga Central constituency.
While thanking the party supporters for giving him the mantle to lead the party at the constituency level, Mr. Adongo therefore called for unity within the umbrella party in winning the 2016 general elections.
“We must go the extra mile to make everybody welcome and integral to the party’s efforts. I am very grateful to the leadership of the party, especially the constituency executives for ensuring smooth elections and to the entire NDC fraternity for the peaceful conduct of the primaries”.
He is bound to face a stiffer contest from opposition New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary candidate of the constituency, Rex Asanga.
