The Member of Parliament for the Talensi Constituency Hon. Benson Tongo Baba has denied promising the people of his constituency a 3 months period to complete the electricity, roads and market projects that started prior to the by-election.

Though he admitted making such promises, Hon. B.T. Baba added that no timeline was however given for the completion of such projects and many others.

The Talensi District saw the commencement of some projects in the run-up to the by-election on July 7. Popular amongst these projects included the installations of street lights and the scraping of roads that connect other communities to the district capital Tongo.

Some residents of Yinduri, Shia, Balungu, Gbane and other communities in the Talensi district have expressed worries over the stagnation of the projects that were started and failure to reach an appreciable level six months after the by-election. ;

According to them, Hon. B. T. Baba touted those projects in his campaign message before getting elected in the by-election. It has therefore come as a disappointment to them that those projects they anticipated will continue and be completed after the election has been truncated.

Speaking on A1 radio’s Day Break Upper East, the Hon. MP said “there is a miscommunication; I personally did not give them 3 months to fix the electricity problem and all those projects they are talking about. But what I can say as a matter of fact is that the project for the electrification of the areas you have mentioned is high on the agenda and it is on course.”

He emphasized that those projects have not been abandoned though there have been some delays and assured that they will be completed in due time.
