While appealing to Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA), to open their shops in order to avert the total collapse of the economy, the People’s National Convention (PNC) has urged the government to hold a national forum on the economic challenges.

In a statement issued by General Secretary of the party, Janet Asana Nabla, the PNC maintained that it is important for the government to hold a national forum for the proposition of ideas to help revive the economy.

“We appeal to the government to organise a national forum to help come out with an all–inclusive and acceptable blueprint to tackle this economic problem. The national forum should bring together all stakeholders such as the academia, business owners, political parties and development partners.”

The PNC in the statement also urged the government to “hasten to get a deal with the IMF as a short–term measure, whereas focusing on intensifying the industrialization agenda to win us off too much import dependency. This must be done religiously to avoid these cyclical problems.”

The People’s National Convention is also appealing to the media to dedicate some airtime for discussing solutions to the current economic problems and avoid lamentations on issues.
