Measures are being put in place to support women in the Binduri Constituency of the Upper East Region to begin new businesses and expand already existing ones.

The support systems would be in the form of business capital loans that would be injected into the Village Saving and Loans Associations (VSLAs) within the area. Also, the women would be linked to the financial institutions and be given low-interest loans to fund their businesses.

The MP for Binduri, Abdulai Abanga said this when he spoke on A1 Radio’s Day Break Upper East Show today, Tuesday, November 15, 2022.

The MP who doubles as the Deputy Minister for Works and Housing said the move would help increase the livelihood systems of the women and their families.

“We are supporting the women groups because a lot of them lack capital. A lot of them want to do businesses but lack capital. The women have these VSLAs and so we have initiated processes to get them linked up with financial institutions so that they can get loans to improve their businesses,” he said.

Additionally, Mr. Abanga said the drilling rig that has been procured for his constituency would begin drilling boreholes in great numbers to help deal with the water challenges in the area.
