The National Democratic Congress in the Upper East Region Is readying itself for its upcoming Parliamentary and Presidential Primaries. The NDC has stated its interest in increasing the total votes it is able to win for its Presidential candidate while ensuring that it wins all 15 Parliamentary seats in the region.
To do this, strategic candidates would be elected to carry the torch of the party at the 2024 general election.
Casper Sunday Kampoli, a former Deputy Upper East Regional Communications Officer, speaking on A1 Radio’s Day Break Upper East Show stated that the winning of the Binduri seat, would be a non-negotiable task in the NDC’s attempt to capture all 15 Parliamentary seats.
“For me, in the Upper East Region, we are going to elect our best candidates. We are going to put our best foot forward. I know that the current 14 who are in already are our best foot. For Binduri that we do not have [an MP], we would elect a good candidate who would claim that seat for us because we need the 15 seats. We deserve the 15,” he said.
Mr. Kampoli suggested that the efforts of the government towards fulfilling the many promises to the people of the Upper East Region have been lacklustre.
“They promised us a regional theatre, but they have not given it to us. They promised us a District Hospital, but they have not given us. We promised secondary schools and we gave the people 10. They promised a Police Hospital, we have not seen it,” he said.
Mr. Kampoli extolled the good work of some of the NDC MPs in the Upper East Region and made specific references to the Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central, Isaac Adongo, and the Member of Parliament for Navrongo Central, Sampson Tangombu Chiragiaa.
