The Member of Parliament for the Bolgatanga East Constituency in the Upper East Region, Dr. Dominic Ayine has been put on notice that he would be sent packing in the next election. His dreams of representing the people of the area in Parliament for a fourth consecutive term would be snuffed out promptly.
According to the members of the New patriotic Party in the area, Dr. Ayine has run out of favour with the people of the area and would be booted out in the 2024 parliamentary election.
“Bolga East, we are poised to win. We are very confident. We can’t put all the details here but we are poised to win. We are not just going to contest the elections. We have put certain measures and mechanisms in place. We think that if we work well, things would turn out in our favour.”
Ayimbilla Abubakar Atera, the Communication Officer for the NPP in the Bolgatanga East Constituency made these comments when he spoke on A1 Radio’s Day Break Upper East Show.
While admitting the MP, Dr. Ayine may have some developmental projects or achievements to his credit, Mr. Atera insisted that they were not enough to guarantee him a fourth win in the election.
“For the MP, I can’t sit here and say he has not done much but we need more. Our constituency is not big so we need him to do more,” he said.
The Communication Officer for the Bolga East Constituency explained that while the MP’s duties may not be directly related to the construction of roads, the MP is expected to lobby for capital intensive projects to be put up in his area, things that would be done by an NPP MP.
