A Police Officer was on Tuesday morning shot by some unknown assailants on the Bolgatanga-Navrongo road and has since been battling for his life at the Upper East Regional hospital in Bolgatanga.
The officer whose identity is yet to be established according to doctors at the hospital was shot multiple times on several parts of his body.
Confirming the incident to a1radioonline .com, Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Baffour Peter said the police was shot at multiple places but the part which was very critical and needed emergency surgery was the penetrative bullet into the abdomen that injured some parts of the abdominal organs like his intestines.
He however indicated that the hospital gave a quick response and the police’s situation has been stabilized for now.
He was of the view that for now, the police does not need a transfer from the facility since the dire situation has been attended to but didn’t rule out an evacuation if the needs be.
