The New Patriotic Party in the Upper East Region says it is inspired by the death of its former national chairman Jake Otanka Obetsebi Lamptey to secure victory in the upcoming elections in his honor.

In a statement signed by the party’s upper east regional communications director Edmund Awuni, the party said “His demise, though a painful loss to the party, is an inspiration for us as a party to work harder to secure victory in November in honor of him and all fallen heroes of the party. We will miss him dearly as a father, a professional and a politician.”

While sending condolences to the family of the late chairman, the statement added that “Indeed we are with them in spirit and are praying for them in these sorrowful times.”

We heard with great sorrow the demise of, our former National Chairman of the party, Jake O. O. Lamptey. His death came as a shock to the region as he won’t live to see the party in power for the third time.

We wish to express our deepest condolences to the bereaved family especially his wife and children. Indeed we are with them in spirit and are praying for them in these sorrowful times.

Jake, a stalwart in the NPP and Ghanaian politics, was one of the founding members of the party when it was formed in 1992 and was the publicity Secretary of the party. He later became the regional chairman of the party in Greater Accra. In the year 2000, he was campaign manager of the party and led the party to victory. He again secured victory for the party in 2004 again in his capacity as a campaign manager.

Jake served in President John Agyegum Kufuor’s government first as chief of staff and later as a minister in a number of ministries. He was the CEO of Lintas a successful advertising company in Ghana. In fact Jake’s contributions to the party in particular and Ghana as a whole can not be over emphasized. Indeed a big tree has fallen in the elephant fraternity. An illustrious son of the land is gone for good.

His demise, though a painful loss to the party, is an inspiration for us as a party to work harder to secure victory in November in honour of him and all fallen heroes of the party. We will miss him dearly as a father, a professional and a politician.

May the soul of Jake Otanka Obetsebi Lamptey and all departed souls of the party rest in the bosom of the Lord.
