3-member Vetting Committee for 2nd GJA awards outdoored

The Upper East Regional branch of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has established a three-member vetting committee responsible for receiving and evaluating submissions for the upcoming 2nd Upper East Regional GJA Awards competition. The inauguration of this committee took place during the launch of the awards scheme in Bolgatanga on Thursday July 27, 2023.

The committee comprises distinguished individuals, including Samuel Akapule, a Senior Journalist and Communication Lecturer at the Bolgatanga Technical University; Lawyer Abdulai Jaladeen, Regional Director of the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice; and Prof. David Millar, Founder of Millar Open University.

Their primary role is to review entries submitted across all 15 categories and ensure they meet the qualifying criteria. Aspiring entrants can submit their entries through the  Chairman of the 2nd GJA Awards Vetting Committee starting from July 28, 2023.

The highly anticipated 2nd Upper East Regional GJA Awards night is set to take place on October 6, 2023, under the theme: “Safeguarding the Peace and Security of The Upper East Region: The Role of The Media.” This event promises to recognize and honour outstanding journalistic contributions that align with the theme and promote the region’s peace and security.

As the region’s media professionals prepare to showcase their best works, the vetting committee’s impartiality and expertise will play a pivotal role in recognizing deserving candidates and upholding the integrity of the awards competition. 

Mr. Akapule and Lawyer Jaladeen, both members of the committee assured patrons of the awards of their impartiality in scrutinizing their entries.
