The Talensi District Chief Executive Officer (DCE), Thomas Duanab Wuni Pearson, has called on residents in the eastern part of the district to remain calm as his outfit works closely with security to clamp down on criminals causing havoc in the area.

According to him, it is sad for innocent residents to lose their lives undeservedly, and he is committed to employing all avenues to restore sanity in the area.

He revealed this when he spoke to Mark Smith on A1 Radio`s Daybreak Upper East Show at the back of the recent attacks, robberies, and killings in the area.

The DCE noted that the late Issah Calendar, who was shot by armed robbers on August 31, 2023, was a humble gentleman who loved policing as if he were a well-trained uniform personality and stood up very tall, and it was therefore very sad for him to have met his untimely death.

“I want to extend my regard and assurances to the traditional council, His Excellency the paramount chief of Talensi, that we will do all within our means to calm down the situation and improve the security situation in the area, and we are working at that“. He assured

He emphasised that there would be a joint meeting with REGSEC to properly strategize security responses in the area.

He bemoaned that “it is sad that there is gold in your place and you have criminals blocking roads. It used to be the snatching of motorbikes, but now it has gone from snatching motorbikes to shooting people on site and taking their belongings. This is not acceptable”.

He said security would be coming after these inhuman criminals who are tormenting the lives of people in the area.
