An information technology (IT) specialist and the Chief Executive Officer of Norgence ICT Academy, Albert Naa, has called on workers in both the formal and informal sectors to upgrade themselves with modern technological tools to stay relevant.

According to Mr. Naa, the world is now driven by technology, with sophisticated software emerging every day to make work easier, and it is important that workers equip themselves to stay relevant at their workspace to boost efficiency.

Mr. Naa revealed this when he spoke to Ibrahim Aziz on A1 Radio`s Daybreak Upper East show regarding the evolution of workspace in terms of information and communications technology (ICT).

He noted that knowledge in IT increases employee productivity, propels product and service development, and improves one’s skills in conducting research on the internet.

The IT specialist emphasised that the notion that new technologies, including artificial intelligence, have come to render people jobless is not entirely true.

He explained that IT has come to complement existing work to foster innovation, creativity, and unify communications, and that makes it crucial for workers to keep up with the use of technology.

Mr. Naa said there is a need for workers in all workspaces to recognize the tools at their disposal and make good use of them, including for their personal development to meet current trends and skills required.

The CEO cited, for instance, that business organisations can use record-keeping tools to keep records of their sales on a daily basis to enable them to determine whether they are making profit, breaking even, or losing money.

This, he noted, will even enable them to track their businesses in terms of which days make the most sales to make informed decisions.
