The Member of Parliament for Binduri Constituency and the Deputy Minister for Works and Housing, Abdulai Abanga, has donated a motorcycle and psychotropic drugs to the Binduri District Health Directorate in the Upper East Region.

The items, valued at about GHC 40,000, are aimed at boosting the district’s healthcare resources, specifically the mental health unit that lacks critical medical consumables.

Mr. Abanga underscored the collaborative efforts needed to address healthcare needs at the grassroots level to promote the well-being of the people in the entire district.

He stated that mental health patients, like any other disability, are dear to him and, hence, he will continuously support them.

He, therefore, entreated individuals and corporate bodies to consider the needs of mental health patients as equally important and come to their aid.

The items were presented to the hospital by the NPP Constituency Chairman, Samuel Ayaago, on behalf of the legislator.

The Acting District Health Director of the Ghana Health Service, Madam Eva, who received the items, expressed her heartfelt appreciation for the generous contribution and extended gratitude to the legislator, emphasizing the positive impact it would have on the community’s mental health care and general well-being.

She indicated that the received items would be judiciously utilized within the mental health unit, adding that the items would alleviate some of the challenges faced by the health service, leading to an overall improvement in the quality of care.
