Renowned Ghanaian singer and songwriter, Wiyaala, celebrated for her commanding vocals and unique blend of traditional African rhythms, is spearheading a groundbreaking initiative to uncover and support emerging talents in the art industry.

The initiative, named the “YAGA YAGA TALENT SHOW,” reflects Wiyaala’s commitment to nurturing young individuals with aspirations in singing, music, dance, comedy, rap, poetry, and various other artistic disciplines.

Known affectionately as the “Lioness of Africa,” Wiyaala aims to leverage her platform to inspire, uplift, and provide a launchpad for young talents with ambitious dreams in the creative realm.

The YAGA YAGA TALENT SHOW is designed not only to showcase the rich artistic potential within the Upper West Region but also to create a supportive ecosystem for the budding artists to thrive.

The 2023 edition of the YAGA YAGA TALENT SHOW promises to be a spectacular event, with cash prizes totaling Ghc5,000 up for grabs for the most outstanding contestants.

This substantial financial incentive underscores Wiyala’s commitment to not only recognizing talent but also providing tangible support that can significantly impact the trajectory of young artists’ careers.

The event is scheduled to take place in Wa, the capital of the Upper West Region, adding a regional focus to the initiative. By holding the talent show in Wa, Wiyala aims to spotlight and celebrate the diverse artistic expressions rooted in the local culture of the region.

In an email, the Lioness of Africa indicated to our reporter, Moses Apiah, that growing up, there were not opportunities for talents in her community, hence the initiative to unearth talents.

“When I was growing up, there were few opportunities for talents in my community to showcase their art. Now, myself and the team at UPPER WEST PRTV are giving local talent that opportunity. This year’s show now includes not only bigger cash prizes but also opportunities for all artistic disciplines and useful experience for those artists who may wish to go on to national talent shows in Accra or beyond.”

The YAGA YAGA TALENT SHOW is expected to draw participants from various artistic disciplines, fostering a dynamic and collaborative environment where talents can intermingle, learn, and showcase their skills.

Apart from the competition aspect, the event is poised to be a celebration of culture, creativity, and the limitless possibilities that arise when young minds are given the opportunity to shine.
